On March 1, 2023, The Ministry of Finance of Tunisia organized a workshop on gender-sensitive and youth-sensitive budget nomenclature with the support of the UNICEF office in Tunisia and Genesis Analytics as part of the joint program: “ Tunisia: establishment of an SDG financing architecture as a key lever for financing the 2030 vision.”
Public spending is an important driver of social change and is directly linked to the achievement of objectives. Therefore, sufficient investments are essential for children and women to realize their potential and thus enable Tunisia to achieve its sustainable development goals.
To better monitor the improvement of well-being and the strengthening of opportunities for children and women, Tunisia is working on the institutionalization of approaches favoring the identification of programs taking into account gender issues and the corresponding budget allocations.
Gender-responsive budgeting (GBG) and child-responsive budgeting (BSE) are public financial management (PFM) tools that place women and children at the center of budgetary processes and public policies.
