The Joint Programme in Sri Lanka focuses on digitally transforming the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics system to enhance governance and accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It engages various stakeholders to implement fully digitalized civil registration processes, establish interoperable registries, and improve digital literacy, benefiting approximately 1,270,000 individuals, particularly vulnerable groups. With a budget of USD 3,500,000, the programme aims to halve registration times and empower marginalized communities, ultimately promoting social inclusion and equitable access to essential services while advancing SDG targets related to legal identity and data availability.
