UN Joint SDG Fund Support to Egypt Integrated SDGs Financing
Brief Description
Egypt has set itself ambitious development goals with Sustainable Development Strategy – Egypt Vision 2030 (SDS). To achieve SDS objectives and SDGs targets by 2030, and secure a sustainable society and economy, the country is resolved to invest in several key sectors, including some SDG accelerators. Key sectors identified for this Joint Programme (JP) that should receive particular attention are: education, health, social protection, water and sanitation, and transportation.
Approach
The JP will ensure that costing of SDS objectives and SDGs targets, assessment of the current landscape and trends of financing flows, and associated financing gaps, are all available and set durably at the heart of all public and private financing policies with the required long term capacities. The Strategy is also to broaden awareness and generate dialogues around SDG-aligned development financing priorities to support decision makers and build understanding and momentum for reforms and new policies.
