Brief Description

The joint programme titled 'Paraguay: Strengthening employment and social protection policies for just transitions' aims to enhance Paraguay's labour market and social protection systems by promoting green jobs, improving formalization strategies, and fostering inclusive employment policies, particularly for vulnerable groups.

The program strengthens employment and social protection policies in Paraguay, focusing on creating green jobs and improving labor market linkages. It enhances government capacities to design action plans for sustainable transitions, updates strategies for vulnerable sectors, and promotes inclusive employment policies. The initiative reaches various stakeholders, including government bodies and organizations, aiming to create 500,000 formal jobs by 2028. Overall, it significantly contributes to advancing Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in enhancing climate resilience and promoting decent work for all.

Expected key results

  1. The Government, with the support of Employers' and Workers' Organisations, is promoting the greening of the economy as an opportunity for the creation of green jobs with decent work, within the framework of the National Employment Plan and the National Climate Change Adaptation Plan.
  2. More articulated sectoral public policies contribute more effectively to the generation of employment with decent work and to the reduction of gender gaps.
  3. Vulnerable workers and productive units move towards formality and gain access to the benefits of contributory social protection.
