Brief Description

The joint programme titled 'Digital identification programme for all: catalyzing digital transformation in achieving the SDGs in the DRC through the dematerialization of the birth registration process in the Municipality of Masina' aims to establish an integrated, inclusive, and secure digital identity system in the DRC, enhancing birth registration processes and ensuring access to basic social services for all, particularly vulnerable populations.

The program focuses on establishing a secure and inclusive digital identity system in the DRC, enhancing birth registration in Masina. It digitizes birth declarations through the DHIS2 platform, ensuring no one is excluded, particularly vulnerable groups. The initiative strengthens collaboration among various ministries and stakeholders, producing reliable data on registered children. It directly benefits approximately 7,000 newborns and 15,000 children, contributing to the achievement of SDG objectives related to legal identity and social inclusion, ultimately enhancing the protection of rights and access to essential services.

Expected key results

The legal and institutional framework for protecting legal and digital identities is strengthened through collaboration among state institutions (e.g., Ministries of Interior, Health, Justice) and stakeholders (e.g., National Institute of Statistics, National Office of Population Identification).
