Brief Description

The joint programme titled 'Advancing Sustainable Food Systems in the United Republic of Tanzania' aims to facilitate a gender-responsive enabling environment for the transformation of food systems in Tanzania, enhancing multisectoral coordination and stakeholder engagement to promote sustainable and equitable food practices.

The programme focuses on advancing sustainable food systems in Tanzania by enhancing multisectoral coordination and governance, promoting gender-responsive policies, and increasing awareness among stakeholders, particularly women and youth. It strengthens the capacities of local governments and stakeholders to integrate food systems into national development agendas, aiming to reach 400 direct beneficiaries. The initiative fosters partnerships with various sectors to ensure inclusive participation and ultimately contributes to food systems transformation, enhancing climate resilience and supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Expected key results

The Joint Programme (JP) is designed to adopt a dual approach combining upstream strategies and localized actions to drive food system transformation.
