Brief Description

The joint programme titled 'Accelerating the SDGs through digital connectivity in rural lagging territories' aims to improve digital connectivity and access to essential services in rural areas of Chile, benefiting vulnerable populations and promoting sustainable development through public-private partnerships and capacity building.

The joint programme focuses on enhancing digital connectivity in rural lagging territories of Chile, aiming to improve the quality of life for vulnerable groups. It promotes public and private investments in infrastructure and technology, directly benefiting over 8,500 individuals with broadband access, training 3,950 in digital services, and providing Telehealth access to 25,000 people. The initiative is expected to reach more than 440,000 individuals, fostering digital inclusion and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through improved access to essential services and economic opportunities.

Expected key results

Public and private investment will enhance digital connectivity in rural areas, aiming to provide broadband to 50 communities, benefiting over 8,500 residents. Five investment mechanisms will be deployed, including two public-private partnership incentives. This could potentially grant broadband access to over 440,000 people in underserved rural regions.
