Blending Private Sector Investment and Official Development Assistance for Sustainable Development

08:00 - 09:30 EST

Organized by the UN Joint SDG Fund and World Bank

This session will review two cases discussing the role of blending private sector investment and official development assistance in supporting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Experts from the private sector, civil society, and government will discuss innovative financing mechanisms and partnerships that can help attract investment to key sectors, studying the cases from Cape Verde and Timor Leste.. Participants will also consider ways to balance the need for investment with the importance of ensuring that development efforts benefit all members of society, including marginalized and vulnerable populations. The session will focus on examples of how to design and implement effective blended finance initiatives that maximize the strengths of both public and private financing sources and ensure that development outcomes are sustainable and inclusive.
