The Joint SDG Fund stands as the UN’s premier innovative funding mechanism, strategically designed to catalyze profound policy transformations and ignite the strategic investments essential for realigning the world on course to achieve the SDGs as stated in the United Nations Secretary-General's Funding Compact 2.0.

Working beside UN country teams under the leadership of UN Resident Coordinators, government officials, and local partners, the Fund ensures all initiatives align with country's unique development priorities. These strategic investments are designed to attract additional funding and expertise, mobilizing resources and capacities from different sources and creating momentum for sustainable change.

The Fund focuses on driving meaningful progress in key sustainable development areas including digital transformation, food systems, social protection and employment, localization of the Global Goals, and the transition to clean energy. Through its emphasis on integration, scale, speed, and sustainability, the Fund helps communities build a better future for all. As a global pooled fund of the UN development system, the Joint SDG Fund is a cost-effective instrument to facilitate fast, collective and catalytic action in response to needs in partner countries.

High Impact Track

Initiatives focused on identifying and scaling sustainable, market-ready business and financing solutions for the SDGs. This expansion approach specifically focuses on leveraging UN entity resources and capacities to enhance the scalability and financial additionality of SDG-focused programme.

Supporting countries to incubate transformative solutions and contribute to an enabling environment to accelerate progress that will move future investments and strategies to achieving the SDGs.

2023 Annual Report

Since its full activation in 2019, the Joint SDG Fund has committed over $268 million across 236 joint programmes in collaboration with 31 UN entities and engaged with 119 UNCTs and multi-country offices. Through this financial commitment, the Fund has promoted integrated policy and regulatory changes focused on enhancing social protection in over 39 countries, solidified the foundation for SDG financing by implementing the Integrated National Financing Framework in 69 countries, strengthened resilience and reduced vulnerabilities across 42 Small Island Developing States, and supported the activation of over 100 UNCTs in response to the global cost-of-living crisis.
