SDG Localization: Georgia and Honduras

Georgia

A joint programme is underway to enhance local stakeholders' knowledge of the SDGs and engage them in localization efforts through assessments, youth empowerment, awareness campaigns, and multi-stakeholder cooperation. It aims to improve food systems policies by supporting local food waste management plans and building capacities to adopt, implement, and monitor the SDGs.

Additionally, the joint programme is working towards implementing integrated public services and promoting digital inclusion practices. These efforts aim to improve municipal social service delivery, particularly for children, ensuring a more inclusive and sustainable society for all.

Honduras

Honduras is focusing on improving coordination among stakeholders to promote an incentive system developed by the Association of Municipalities of Honduras. This system aims to accelerate inclusive educational outcomes at the local level in at least 30 municipalities, benefiting 125,000 children.

The joint programme also focuses on promoting municipal investments in education through investment guidelines, expenditure coding for monitoring, and resource mobilization to expand flexible educational offerings. It seeks to strengthen institutional capacities for universal access to education by developing scorecards to monitor educational indicators and investments at the local level.
