Communities of Care in the DR
Despite its high economic performance and progress in terms of poverty reduction, the country has a high level of gender inequality, particularly socioeconomically. Within recovery policies, the establishment of child, elderly, and other care policies becomes an essential element to guarantee an effective return of women to the labor market. The programme will pilot the development of communities of care in three prioritized territories of the Dominican Republic, contributing the design and implementation of a National Care Policy and the participative construction of the National Care System.
Approach
The programme will establish three pilot experiences for the implementation and consolidation of a National Care Policy, in an effort to promote comprehensive solutions to care needs that can eventually be replicated to gradually expand the National Care System. The programme will strengthen statistical information for SDG targets monitoring within the National System of Planning and Public Investment. This will contribute to the design, management and implementation of the pilot and the gradual expansion of the National Care System, ultimately accelerating the advancement of equal rights and opportunities between men and women.
