Building a Robust National Statistical System (NSS)
Through its joint programme, the Joint SDG Fund supports Trinidad and Tobago in building a comprehensive and coordinated National Statistical System (NSS). This system is designed to deliver high-quality, user-oriented, and timely economic, social, and environmental statistics, accelerating SDG implementation across the nation.
The joint programme aligns with Trinidad and Tobago’s National Development Strategy, focusing on strengthening statistical capacity and infrastructure. It also supports key initiatives like the National Population and Housing Census, which offers a vital opportunity to build skills and systems in line with real-world needs.
The NSI TT Bill 2018: A Transformational Step
The NSI TT Bill 2018 is a critical component of this transformation. When passed, the bill will upgrade the Central Statistical Office (CSO) into the National Statistical Institute of Trinidad and Tobago (NSI TT). This transition will enhance coordination, ensure adherence to international standards, and facilitate the timely production and dissemination of essential data.
By activating policy levers and employing an integrated, cross-sectoral approach, this initiative is set to deliver transformational results at scale. It will ensure that Trinidad and Tobago has the robust data systems needed to drive evidence-based SDG policies and improve access to financing systems for sustainable development.
Unlocking a Data-Driven Future
The transformation of Trinidad and Tobago’s statistical infrastructure marks a pivotal moment in the nation’s development journey. It highlights the critical link between accurate data, effective policy, and progress on the Sustainable Development Goals.
Together, we can pave the way for better data, better policies, and a brighter, sustainable future for all. Support the NSI TT Bill 2018 and help Trinidad and Tobago unlock its full potential for the Sustainable Development Goals.
