The Government of the Republic of Guinea has confirmed its commitment to join the Global Accelerator on Jobs and Social Protection for Just Transitions aiming to strengthen economic recovery and ecological transition by addressing national challenges related to job creation and the extension of social protection.
The official expression of interest, signed by the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Ismaël Nabe, and the Minister of Labour and the Civil Service, Faya François Bourouno, was sent to the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Guinea, Kristèle Younes, on 10 June 2024, to formally confirms the country's interest to align with the Global Accelerator objectives, which support the implementation of the Interim Reference Programme (PRI) and the guidelines of the National Committee of the Assembly for Development.
Following the official commitment, the government, through the Ministry of Labour and Civil Service, will coordinate the process to develop a national roadmap that will define the entry points of the Global Accelerator in the country. The roadmap will be developed in close consultation and coordination with national stakeholders.
The Republic of Guinea is the seventh African country to join the Global Accelerator. This UN initiative aims to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals by supporting the creation of decent jobs and extending social protection to those currently excluded.
